What does a prosthodontist do?

When should I see a prosthodontist instead of my general dentist?
- A prosthodontist brings advanced training to more complicated cases, particularly when several teeth need attention or your dental history is complex. Our prosthodontist works directly with our in-house periodontist and endodontist to plan comprehensive care.
What is the difference between a crown, a veneer, and a bridge?
- A crown is a full-coverage restoration that protects a compromised tooth. A veneer is a thin ceramic shell that refines the shape and color of a tooth. A bridge is a fixed restoration that spans a gap where one or more teeth are missing.
Will I need a referral to see the prosthodontist?
- No outside referral is necessary. Because our prosthodontist practices in the same office as our general dentists, care is coordinated in-house from the start.
